Teach about sexual education and related subjects

4th September, 2017, Gawair slum of Dhaka - Project ‘X’ was successfully carried out by YES alumna Ifreet Taheea on the 5th of September, 2017 at Gawair slum of Dhaka. A total of 6 families (24 participants) and a few others were present at the event to learn about sexual education and related subjects. The participants all live in the slum and were unaware of the diseases and impacts of unplanned family, early marriage, prevention of conception, etc. The session was carried out by Mr. Shaharior Mohammed and Dr. Syeda Nazmun Nahar of IFMSA- BANGLADESH. The event went on smoothly with the sessions being conducted by the trainers covering topics such as: * Safe sex and unplanned pregnancy * Gender equality * Puberty * Menstruation and menarche Reproductive period Menopause * Safe sexual practice * Family planning * Contraceptives disease of genital tract including carcinoma cervix Sexually transmitted diseases and HIV. What we noticed during the session was that even though the 6 families were told about the topic of the project before its implementation, a few male members felt hesitant and left the venue during the session. However, most of the members stayed back till the end and the women present there even requested a one-on-one session to be led by Dr. Syeda Nazmun Nahar.
