Why knowing defence techniques are necessary for everyone and how it can help to avoid dangerous situations

26th January, 2017, Jessore - The Self Defence 101 workshop took place on 26th January, 2017, with students from Jessore Cantonment College. The YES Alumni members and trainers from Nayana Chowdhury Sports Foundation (NCSF) arrived at the college at 10 a.m. where they were welcomed by teachers, the Vice Principal and the Principal of Jessore Cantonment College. After the initial set up, Maryan Karmoker, co-ordinator of the project, spoke about why knowing defence techniques is necessary for everyone and how it can help to avoid dangerous situations. Soon after this, 4 trainers from Nayana Chowdhury Sports Foundation (NCSF), and one of the trainers Md. Bashir Uddin further elaborated on the importance of taking precautionary steps and the necessity of regular physical exercise to have a healthy body and mind. Md. Bashir Uddin stayed up on the stage to demonstrate the moves while the other three trainers Jaly Rani Kar, Shuvon Kanti Paul, and Nilufar Banu spread out among the students to help them practice the moves. The students were then divided into pairs for a more effective practice session. After a 3 hour long workshop, Md. Bahsir Uddin finished the session while wishing the students luck and encouraging them to practice regularly.
