Small Steps Towards English aims to give underprivileged children a chance at English education

December, 2016, Dhaka - The project “Smallfoot” is a project undertaken by the YES Alumni Bangladesh. “Small Steps Towards English” aims to further add to the objectives of “Smallfoot” which is to give underprivileged children a chance at English education. It aims to improve the English speaking and grammar skills of the children of Smallfoot. The project has been going on from September of 2016 till December of 2016 and is planned to be ongoing till the end of February of 2017. Classes have been taken on each consecutive Friday of December, 2016 for 1.5 hour sessions by the project coordinator Towhidul Aziz, along with volunteers on a couple of the project days. An increased grasp over the English language of these underprivileged children is the desired outcome. This will hopefully inspire underprivileged families to send their children to school and also encourage the children to show an interest in learning. For “SmallFoot”, this will be another step towards their growth as it will enable the students to move to better schools in the future in order to continue their higher education.
